Youth Leadership Academy Voices Have Powerful Impact!
Meet the incredible young ladies of Family Centre's Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) programme, who had the honour of attending the Throne Speech as the group leaders behind three transformative community projects. From left to right: Yeasmin Cummings, Khayla Pearman, Family Centre Community Team Leader Deneca Zuill, and Ahnyah Ming.
The students were invited by Mr. Marc Telemaque, Secretary to the Cabinet Office, after their powerful youth-led initiatives caught the attention of the Cabinet and Government Ministers. We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Government of Bermuda for listening to the voices of our young people, and we're excited to see how their projects continue to create broader community impact.
“The Government believes that young people invested in Bermuda’s future must be supported as their example will grow the community connectedness that meets the challenge of anti-social behaviour and a history that does not resonate beyond the generation that lived it.” - Her Excellency the Governor Ms. Rena Lalgie
At Family Centre, youth voices are respected and valued. Watch this year’s YLA Foundations Community Impact projects on YouTube: |

Cup Match Tag Day: A Tribute to Martha Dismont |
|
|
This year’s Cup Match Tag Day was dedicated in memory of Martha Dismont, Family Centre’s Founder and former Executive Director. Thanks to generous support from the community, this event exceeded its fundraising goal.
Special thanks to those donors who gave gifts in Martha's memory, enabling Family Centre to continue her legacy. Because of you, we can "continue the work," which was Martha's charge to us upon her retirement in 2020.
On November 22, 2023 we will mark our first annual Founder’s Day, celebrating Martha's birthday and honouring the impact of her life's work to nurture and strengthen children and families in Bermuda. Your support helps us to continue the work Martha started. |

World Children’s Day – An Urgent Appeal for Support |
|
|
Family Centre will observe World Children’s Day the week of November 20 - 24, 2023, celebrating the treatise that protects the human rights of all children. This year's theme is "For every child, every right." We urgently need your support to continue to protect and nurture our future.
Funding this year has been significantly reduced, presenting a risk to our ability to deliver our ‘Continuum of Care’ for vulnerable children, teens, and their families now and in the future.
We must raise $250,000 by the end of the year to ensure that we can continue our mission to facilitate healing, hope, and connection to strengthen children and families. Our World Children’s Day Urgent Appeal will run throughout the month of November. Every child needs protection from harm, unconditional support, and to have their basic needs met to grow into an emotionally healthy adult. This World Children’s Day, your investment in children and families will directly change lives and create a future filled with promise and possibility for those who need it most.
Please help us raise critical funds to maintain our vital therapeutic programmes and services. You will be making a real difference in a child's life.
