Back-to-School Workshop: Middle to High School Transition

Family Centre invites students transitioning from middle school to high school to take part in our Back-to-School Workshop.

Starting high school is an exciting milestone, but it can also bring new pressures, expectations, friendships, and responsibilities. This one-day workshop will provide a safe and supportive space for students to build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and prepare for a positive start to the school year.

The workshop will focus on practical skills to support students as they navigate this important transition, including:

• Empowerment skills to foster independence, resilience, and self-confidence
• Understanding healthy peer interactions
• Effective communication with parents
• Managing academic stressors in healthy ways
• Coping skills infused throughout all topics

Students will have the opportunity to connect with others who are entering a similar stage, explore common concerns about high school, and learn strategies to help them feel more prepared, supported, and confident. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Parent Zoom Informational Session

In addition to the Back-to-School Workshop for students, Family Centre will host a Parent Zoom informational session for registered parents and guardians.

This session will provide an overview of the topics covered in the student workshop and share practical ways families can support their young person during the transition into high school.

This Family Centre Workshop is made possible by the generosity of our donors. Donations of $10 per family to help with costs are appreciated but not required.
