Family Centre (Pembroke, Bermuda) is proud to offer two unique internship opportunities to current students or graduates in the fields of applied psychology, counselling, or social work who are looking for hands-on experience working therapeutically with children and families. Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Family Centre Internship and Family Centre Summer Internship.
1) Family Centre Internship
The Family Centre Internship programme provides students with experience engaging our children, teens, and families. Priority is given to mature, culturally sensitive Bermuda residents. The student will learn therapeutic care approaches that foster healing, wellness, and empowerment.
The “Wraparound” intervention will be an approach that students will learn and incorporate into their client engagement. The student will work with team members over a minimum of 6 months to devise, implement, and evaluate clinical service and behavioural plans to best assist the needs of families in their homes and communities. There may be opportunities to deliver individual child and family clinical counselling. Students will also learn how to design, develop, and deliver therapeutic groups and programmes for children aged 4 to 18. This position requires a Master’s Degree in applied psychology, counselling, or social work. The successful candidate must be at least 21 years old to apply.
2) Family Centre Summer Internship
The Family Centre Summer Internship programme provides students with experience facilitating a therapeutic camp for children in counselling services. This position is for a three-week camp during July 2023. Priority is given to mature, culturally sensitive Bermuda residents. This position requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree in applied psychology, counselling, or social work. The successful candidate must be at least 21 years old to apply.
The core work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. A substantial portion of camp time is spent doing activities with the children outside of Family Centre’s premises.

Please include three recently written references. Prepare a cover letter, outlining why you think you would be a good candidate. The letter should also summarise your interests, experiences, and accomplishments.
